In this two session workshop on Advanced Teaching Skills for MSC Teachers on  June 16 and 17 we’ll explore how to support our participants when they experience resistance or other forms of psychological protective mechanisms during the MSC program. We’ll use insights from Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to understand how we can notice and understand participants who have difficulties integrating or using self-compassion or experience backdraft regularly.

You will learn:
• an introduction to the IFS model
• experiential exercises to get a felt sense of how to use self-compassion when our own protective parts step in
• feel at ease and better able to support participants having difficult experiences when you teach MSC
• An understanding of how the IFS approach is already integrated into the MSC program, and how to use this to enhance participant’s Self-Compassion skills
IFS is a therapy model founded by Richard Schwartz and has become widely recognized for its gentle yet very effective way approach to its innovative approach to psychotherapy. It represents a new synthesis of two already-existing paradigms: system thinking and the multiplicity of the mind.
