In the wake of Kristin Neff’s influential work on Self-Compassion, there has been a notable upsurge in interest surrounding the theory and application of this concept. While much attention has been given to the nurturing aspect of self-compassion, characterized by gentle care and understanding, it’s important to acknowledge its equally vital counterpart: fierce self-compassion.
Fierce self-compassion entails:
We delve into action-part of self-compassion, focusing on inner work that empowers individuals to embrace fierceness alongside tenderness. Prior familiarity with self-compassion is advised for optimal engagement with this course, which aims to equip participants with tools to assert themselves and harness their personal agency.
Learning Objectives:
Throughout our program, participants will discover the importance of integrating both dimensions of self-compassion—tender and fierce. If we approach self-compassion solely with gentleness, we risk settling into a state of complacency or disempowerment. But if we emphasize fierceness without tenderness, we may veer towards hostility or selfishness. It’s like needing both a strong boat and flexible sails to sail smoothly. We need to have love in our hearts to avoid hurting others, but also strength in our determination to stand up against harm.
Who Should Enroll?
This course welcomes individuals who have completed the 8-week or 10-week Mindful Self-Compassion Course, the 5-Day Intensive MSC Course, or the MSC Core Skills Workshop.
